Shayla Neufeld was born and raised in Fresno, California, and attended California State University, Fresno where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education - Agriculture Communications option. After graduating in 2006, Shayla moved to Bakersfield and worked a short time gig as a morning news producer for a news talk radio station before landing a job with the Kern County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office.


Seeking cooler temperatures, Shayla relocated to Monterey County in 2010 and began working for the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office. She currently serves as a program lead Agricultural Inspector / Biologist III in the Fruit and Vegetable Standardization unit, which includes: Commodity Standards, Direct Marketing, Retail Egg Inspections, SOP Registrations, Cannabis Cultivation Inspections, Industrial Hemp Registrations, assists in the management of the Monterey County Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer's Office Facebook page and works on the Monterey County Crop and Livestock Reports. She previously served on the CASAP Board of Directors from 2017-2020 as a Member At Large and welcomes the opportunity to serve again.


Given the opportunity, Shayla volunteers with local 4H, FFA and Farm Day events and in her free time enjoys traveling, Giants baseball and Pilates. She resides in Monterey with her husband, and spoiled dog, Casper.
